How we differ
We build value before the sale
A broker’s job usually starts when you decide to sell. We make sure people are prepared for exit so that they can maximise the enterprise value of their business.
| Aspect | A typical broker or corporate finance house | Sapak & Curnock |
|---|---|---|
| When they start | At the sale: run the process, find a buyer, take a success fee | Before the sale: we make sure you are prepared for exit, so you can maximise the enterprise value of your business |
| Experience | Process experts; few have run the business they sell | We have made multiple acquisitions and exits ourselves, and we sit on boards |
| Interests | Paid on the deal happening | Our money goes in alongside yours, so our goals are aligned, and we exit together |
| At the end | Hand over to the buyer | We prepare you for exit and, if it’s the right fit, we’ll invest alongside you |
| Role | Adviser on the outside | Often from the board, as a NED or project adviser |
If you need a broker
Owners may still need one to run a sale, and we can help you choose a good one, with the business in the best shape it can be when they start.
Which hat we’re wearing
We can be an adviser, a board member, an investor or the buyer. We agree in writing which one before any work starts, so there are no surprises. If we’re advising you and might also invest, we’ll tell you upfront, and you’re never obliged to take it.
No obligation
Want to start before the sale?
Tell us about your business, and Dom or Joe will come back to you. If we’re not the right people, we’ll say so.
